Hieracosphinx (Falcon-headed lion-bodied mythical creature)

For today's Sketch Dailies the subject is a hieracosphinx (yeah, I had no idea what it was either.) It's supposed to be a falcon-headed creature, but trying to draw falcon faces from reference photos wasn't turning out so great. Instead, I chose to draw Sam (the) Eagle's noble head.

I got his megapack a while ago and just bought his new mini set of gouache brushes (that I didn't end up using for this particular drawing). I'm trying to draw in Photoshop more, I used to only draw in Corel Painter. Still getting used to it..
