Hooray for Life Drawing!

Last week, I attended a figure drawing sketch group at the Atlanta Artists Center in Buckhead for the first time. It felt great to draw from a nude model, something I haven't done in years. I was actually a little nervous to be drawing in "public" with "strangers," but once I got there I was fine. (I also had my awesome friend Jennie Lynn with me!) There was a mix of younger folks and older ones, painters and draw-ers, probably about 10 total. I had to get back into the rhythm of drawing with actual analog paper and charcoal (where's my zoom tool and apple-z??) again, but I'm glad I did. I spend so much time working and drawing at home alone in my office, it was nice to be able to get out and be around other artists.

Dowager Countess Violet

If you haven't watched Downton Abbey yet, you're a fool!
Here's a quick drawing of the amazing Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess.

Clay Morrow

In the last couple weeks, Nate and I devoured the first three seasons of Sons of Anarchy. I love Ron Perlman's odd face!

Walter White

Here's a "quick" painting I did of Walter White from Breaking Bad in Corel Painter X. This is not the one that I started ages ago and never quite finished. I tried to stay "loose" and not get bogged down in details, but it still came out fairly polished. I guess I'll try setting a timer for myself so I do multiple sketches instead of spending several hours on one. All in all, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Bill Murray

Did this one in a couple hours in Painter last night.
